Freezing winter months in Croatia are only a few weeks away, with rain, mud, hunger and cold already taking a toll on the health of refugees, who are in their thousands entering into Croatia on a daily basis. It is only a matter of days when the first reports of snow and below freezing temperatures will turn the current refugee crisis into a refugee nightmare, with casualties multiplying among whom children, elderly and pregnant women will suffer the most.

RCRR – ROM (Renewing Our Minds) Community Refugee Response team is at this time preparing for the winter response mission starting December 6, 2015. We will focus on directly helping refugees in Croatia with blankets, warm clothes, shoes, appropriate food and hygienic necessities. But to be prepared on time for the mission we need your help. Our goal is to raise $12000 in the next three weeks, namely by 21st November, 2015.

It was thanks to the generosity of many of our friends that our earlier refugee relief work has been possible. Our experience of the encounters with refugees has been that refugees are kind and grateful people, who are fleeing their countries because they have no other choice left. Many among them are families with children whose only objective is to find a place of safety.

Some of them have been on the road for weeks, even months. They are exhausted, their feet are injured, and many walk with crutches or are assisted in wheelchairs.  The most moving and heartbreaking moments in our work so far were the scenes of small children walking with their parents on the dusty dirt road through the cornfields leading into Croatia during the blistering heat of late summer.

Thousands of refugees streaming into Europe are people just like you and me, but people who at this time, when bitter winter conditions are becoming their worst enemy, desperately need our help. We hope that your generosity will make a visible difference in the quality and quantity of our humanitarian work in Croatia, as well as in Serbia.

Please, donate by 21st November, 2015 and help us reach our goal of $ 12000. Thank You.Tihomir Kukolja, Renewing Our Minds, Director
