Lord, these are increasingly trying times when religious mediocrity and spiritual shallowness will not do.
With David I pray: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me.” Psalm 139:23.24.
Lord, wake me up, open my eyes, quicken my soul, clear the fog, remove the veils that hinder me from discerning you with clarity. Cleanse me from every pretense, lie, artificiality, cynicism and anything fake in me.
With Jacob I plead: “I will not let you go unless you bless me!” Genesis 32:26. “Restore to me the joy of salvation, and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” Psalm 51:10. With you on my side, and me on your side I shall fear no thing.
Lord, I am yours and you are mine. Do with me whatever You want, whether I like it or not. Whether it hurts or not. Finally, in the words of C.S. Lewis, “may it be the real I who speaks. May it be the real Thou that I speak to.”
Lord Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords, to You alone I surrender, and Your name alone I praise and desire to lift up all the days of my life.
